Cefixime & Sulbactam tablets are drug medications under the branding of CASTROV-SB. It is a combination of two components, cefixime is an antibiotic and is used in the treatment of bacterial infection of the body. Sulbactam is the second component of this medication, which is a beta-lactamase inhibitor and its major function is to inactivate the activity of bacterial enzymes against the cefixime antibiotic, therefore it assists cefixime and improves its overall activity or effective dose. By deactivating these resistance enzymes of bacteria, the bacterial cell is more prone to undergo antibiotic action.
Bacterial cells have been able to resist the activities of certain antibiotics by synthesizing various enzymes against antibiotics. But to tackle this situation, healthcare experts and scientists are able to inhibit this antibiotic resistance and enzymes and enhance the activity of cefixime against the bacterial cells. Cefixime works on the inactivation of the synthesis of bacterial cell walls which is a crucial part of the survival of bacteria.
